Speaker Detail - Shaun Yang

Biography
- (Former) Desinger of the longest and largest single span tee-roff bridge beams ever built in Australia
- (Current) Guest Lecturer for Master of Civil Engineering at The University of Melbourne (since 2022)
- (Current) Senior Engineer, Structures Lead for Level Crossing Removal Project at Aurecon

 

Shaun is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with over 12 years of working experience in civil and structural engineering design and delivery. He has worked through various phases of the project lifecycle and gained extensive experience in feasibility assessment, preliminary design, detailed design, construction, asset handover and maintenance. He has also developed specialised technical skills in the design of prestressed concrete bridges, steel bridges and various civil structures.  He has acted as structures team leader for detailed structural bridge design for numerous multi-million dollar infrastructure projects across Australia and has demonstrated success in design management, multidisciplinary interface, stakeholder consultation and construction support.  Since 2022, Shaun has been invited by The University of Melbourne to present guest lectures to the postgraduate students enrolled in Master of Civil Engineering.  Currently, Shaun is the structures lead for the Level Crossing Removal Project Hopkins Road, Truganina, who is responsible for managing a team of engineers and drafters and delivering the detailed design of two road-over-rail bridges and associated retaining walls.

Biography
- (Former) Design Engineer for North East Link, Level Crossings, Rockhampton Ring Road, and Pacific Motorway Upgrade
- (Former) Verifier for 150m extradosed bridge in Kachchidargha (9.76 km)
- (Current) Chartered Bridge Engineer at WSP Australia

Mithra is a Chartered Bridge Engineer from WSP with 16 years of experience in heavy infrastructure projects, including both Road and Rail. She is a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria and Queensland. Her expertise spans Non-linear analysis, Extradosed bridges, Pushover analysis and Rail-structure interaction analysis apart from conventional structures. Mithra has contributed to detailed engineering designs for major projects such as North East Link South, Level Crossing Removals in Melbourne, Rockhampton Ring Road and Pacific Motorway Upgrade in Brisbane. She played a crucial engineering role in the independent verification of 150-meter span extradosed bridge covering 9.9 kilometres in Kachchidargha.
