This training presents a comprehensive workflow for the numerical modelling and nonlinear seismic assessment of a steel building using MIDAS GEN NX.
The case study is a four-storey steel structure (G+3) near Bucharest, with an eccentrically braced frame (EBF) system designed to provide lateral stiffness, strength and energy dissipation through controlled inelastic deformation of the dissipative links.
The main focus is on nonlinear static (pushover) analysis — and on what the resulting capacity curves reveal about the seismic performance of the structure.
Don’t miss your chance to join — spaces are limited!
The seminar follows the full workflow, from structural model development to seismic performance evaluation.
The seminar highlights what nonlinear static analysis can show for steel eccentrically braced frames — beyond what an elastic analysis can tell you.
Follow how plastic hinges form and spread through the structure as the lateral load increases.
Check link deformation demands and inter-storey drifts against what the EBF is designed to deliver.
Use the capacity curves to judge the global displacement capacity and the seismic performance of the building.
Antonio-Andrei Cristian is a structural engineer and PhD candidate with over 10 years of international experience in seismic assessment and forensic evaluation of complex projects across the nuclear and energy sectors, spanning conceptual design to detailed analysis in Romania and abroad.

To take part in the hands-on session, please complete the steps below before the event. This way you can start modelling from the very first minute — thank you for preparing in advance.
Make sure it can run MIDAS GEN NX (a training license will be provided on the day).
Activation details will be sent to the email registered with your MIDAS Member account – please check your inbox (and spam folder).
An external mouse is highly recommended for modelling comfort.
One afternoon, limited places at UTCB in Bucharest. Registration is required so we can prepare the seats and the training licenses.
Adding this event to your calendar does not reserve your seat. Please complete the registration form below.
