This MIDAS Academy workshop connects the theory of slope stability with its practical application in numerical modelling. It starts with the principles behind slope behaviour and failure — and ends with a complete model that you build step by step in MIDAS GTS NX.
The case study is a temporary slope formed during a deep excavation in an urban area, next to existing buildings — a situation where geometry, soil stratification, groundwater and neighbouring loads all govern stability.
Don’t miss your chance to join — spaces are limited!
A first look at the case study, on site and in MIDAS GTS NX. The rest of the model is built live during the workshop.
The final excavation stages, the finished slope and the SRM stability results are built step by step together with the trainer during the hands-on session.
Reserve Your Seat →Every participant works on their own laptop and builds the model from scratch, one guided step at a time.
Work on a real temporary slope from an urban deep excavation — not simplified demo data.
Learn to interpret SRM results and check them against what a geotechnical engineer would expect to see.
Iulia-Consuela Prodan, PhD, is a university lecturer at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and co-founder of GreenTAGS and Expert Proiect. Her academic and professional activity focuses on geotechnical engineering, numerical modelling, and the assessment of soil and slope behavior.
Lavinia Avram is a geotechnical engineer with experience in geotechnical design, numerical modelling, and site monitoring. Her professional activity includes slope stability assessments, deep excavations, retaining systems, and the evaluation of ground behavior during construction.

View on Google MapsTo take part in the hands-on session, please complete the steps below before the event. This way you can start modelling from the very first minute — thank you for preparing in advance.
Make sure it can run MIDAS GTS NX properly (a training license will be provided on the day).
First time using MIDAS? Create your account before the session.
Download MIDAS GTS NX to your laptop – get it here.
All the information you need to activate your license will be sent to the email address registered with your MIDAS Member account – please check your inbox (and spam folder) before the session.
An external mouse is highly recommended for modelling comfort.
