Overview

This in-person seminar in Sofia brings MIDAS IT Europe together with practising bridge engineers for an afternoon of applied structural engineering with MIDAS Civil NX.

The programme opens with Marian Borodi (AECOM Romania), who compares hand calculations with MIDAS analysis on the Tarnava Mare river bridge of the Sighisoara By-pass in Romania. Giulio Colasanti (Colasanti Ltd) then walks through a prestressed concrete highway viaduct in Romania, from modelling to Eurocode verification in MIDAS Civil NX.

Marian Borodi

Associate Director and Bridge Specialist, AECOM Romania

Marian is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE) with the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK) and has nearly 30 years of experience in bridge and structural engineering, working on national and international infrastructure projects since graduating from the Faculty of Railways, Highways and Bridges in Bucharest. He has held key technical and leadership roles in bridge and transportation projects in both the rail and highway sectors. His experience covers the design and analysis of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel and composite bridges, with a particular interest in combining sound engineering fundamentals with advanced structural analysis techniques.

Giulio Colasanti

Structural Engineer, Colasanti Ltd

Giulio graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at La Sapienza University of Rome in 2024. He has been part of building and bridge design projects and contributes to the design of structural elements, specialising in composite bridges. He works with MIDAS Civil NX, Gen, FEA NX and CIM, and is familiar with the Eurocodes as well as the Italian and Romanian national codes.
