Intro

Guinness World Records feature a myriad of records, with a total of over 50,000 records listed as of 2024. Among the numerous bridge-related records, I've selected 5 bridges with unusual records to introduce to you.

1. Longest glass-bottomed bridge

The longest glass-bottomed bridge measures 526.14 m (1,726 ft) and was achieved by Lianzhou Qingtian Tourism Development Co., Ltd (China) in Qingyuan, Guangdong, China, on 10 July 2020. The glass bridge is known in English as "The Glass Bridge in Huangchuan Three Gorges Scenic Area," and "湟川三峡擎天玻璃桥” in Chinese. This glass bridge is suspended at a height of 201 meters, with a width of 8.8 meters.

2. Largest double helix bridge

Largest double helix bridgeHelix Bridge

The Helix Bridge in Singapore is the largest and currently the only double-helix structure bridge, spanning 280 meters. It employs two interwoven steel helix structures to form a sophisticated tubular truss. When the steel is extended, it would reach a length of 2.25 km, yet it utilizes only one-fifth of the steel compared to a traditional box girder bridge. As you can see in the picture, the Helix Bridge connects Marina Bay Sands with Marina Bay.
