- A MIDAS Gen NX webinar demonstrating flat slab design with drop panels and column capitals in accordance with Eurocode 2, covering modeling, analysis, and design checks.
- It walks through flexural design, punching shear checks, and both uncracked (serviceability) and cracked-section (long-term deflection) checks for the slab.

Description
The video opens with a contents slide outlining six stages: modeling drop panels and column capitals, analysis and result extraction, flat slab flexural design per EC2-04, punching shear check, serviceability (uncracked section) check, and cracked-section analysis for long-term deflection.
The live demo builds a flat-plate floor in MIDAS Gen NX using the Drop Panel and Column Capital tools with auto-mesh, then generates a full multi-story building via Building Generation. Loads are defined for self-weight, superimposed dead load, live load, Eurocode-1 wind, and Eurocode-8 seismic cases, followed by an analysis run and review of results including Wood-Armer moment contours used for slab design.
The design section shows automatic load combination generation, rebar design criteria setup, meshed slab flexural design with rebar spacing contour output, a punching shear check using local direction force summation around columns, and finally cracked-section analysis for deflection verification, all per EN 1992-1-1:2004.
Key Points
Flat slab modeling: dedicated Drop Panel and Column Capital tools combined with auto-mesh generate a realistic multi-story flat-plate structure.
Eurocode-based loading and analysis: wind (EC1) and seismic (EC8) load generation alongside gravity loads, with Wood-Armer moments used for slab design.
Complete EC2 design checks: automatic flexural rebar design, punching shear verification, and both uncracked and cracked-section (deflection) serviceability checks.
