A two-part live series on assessing U-frame (half-through) steel railway bridges to Network Rail standards — from a code-based Level 1 check in MIDAS CIVIL NX through to a full finite element Level 2 assessment in MIDAS FEA NX.
Assessing existing U-frame (half-through) steel railway bridges to Network Rail standards is rarely a one-size-fits-all task. This series shows both ends of the process: a fast, code-based Level 1 check in MIDAS CIVIL NX, and a full Level 2 finite element investigation in MIDAS FEA NX for when a line-beam check reaches its limits.
Attend either session on its own, or follow the full series to see how a bridge moves from a defensible Level 1 rating through to a non-linear FE assessment that accounts for imperfections, construction sequencing, and real material behaviour.
Bridge and structural engineers who assess or maintain rail infrastructure, from code checks through to advanced FE analysis
Two live technical webinars with Q&A, one hour each
MIDAS CIVIL NX (Session 1) and MIDAS FEA NX (Session 2)
U-frame steel bridge assessment: Network Rail code checks and non-linear finite element analysis
Each session stands on its own, and together they cover the full route from code to conclusion.
A complete Level 1 assessment of a U-frame steel bridge — from building and loading the model, to applying the correct combinations, to producing rating results and a clean, defensible report.
Beyond Level 1: building a U-frame bridge finite element model from scratch, running linear static and buckling analyses, then a full geometric and material non-linear assessment.
Yamin Ahmedhusain is an Application Engineer at MIDAS IT, specialising in MIDAS CIVIL NX. He holds a Master's degree in Structural Engineering and has extensive experience supporting bridge engineering projects across Europe, helping clients optimise their design workflows and deliver complex bridge and infrastructure projects.
Vikrant Vijay Parthe is an Application Engineer at MIDAS IT, specialising in the structural analysis and design of bridge and building structures. He holds a Master's degree in Structural Engineering from SVNIT, Surat, and supports engineers and consultants with technical guidance, product demonstrations, and real-world implementation of MIDAS solutions.
