Ryan is a Structural Dam Engineer with 14 years of post-graduate experience in the design and construction of concrete and earthfill dams. He holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, is registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA, and has worked on dams ranging from 4 m to 275 m in height. His expertise includes structural design, dam safety evaluation, and advanced finite element modelling for thermal, seismic, and complex foundation loading conditions.
He is the South African representative for ICOLD Technical Committee A – Computational Aspects of Analysis and Design of Dams, and a member of the MIDAS FEA expert network. Ryan has authored and co-authored 19 technical papers and also has 3 years of construction experience on major projects including power stations, mine smelters, and bridges as a Site Agent. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce specialising in Accounting Sciences.
