Beyong Level 1 - A Finite Element Approach to U-Frame Assessment
Where a Level 1 line-beam check reaches its limits, a finite element model tells the fuller story — local stresses, plate slenderness, buckling, and the reserve that only shows up once you account for imperfections and material behaviour.
In this one-hour live webinar, we build a U-frame (half-through) steel bridge in MIDAS FEA NX from the ground up: defining shell properties, meshing the geometry, applying boundary and loading conditions, then running linear static and linear buckling analyses. From there we move into a full geometric and material non-linear analysis — introducing imperfections, sequencing construction stages, and interpreting the results to reach a defensible conclusion.
It's the natural follow-on to our Level 1 session, aimed at engineers who want to assess complex U-frame behaviour with confidence.
