In this session, Parth Akbari, Structural Engineer at MIDAS IT Australia, introduces material non-linear analysis in MIDAS CIVIL NX — explaining the difference between linear and non-linear structural response, and when engineers need to move beyond elastic analysis.
Parth walks through the full linear and non-linear buckling analysis workflow: running a linear buckling analysis, updating the geometry with imperfections, assigning plastic material properties, enabling combined non-linear analysis, and extracting the load factor–displacement curve. The session then moves into MIDAS CIVIL NX, demonstrating mode shape review, non-linear analysis control settings, and deformation and stress results on a box girder model.
