The hands-on training conducted at MIDAS Research & Development Office, Gurugram focused on practical modelling and analysis of NATM tunnelling using MIDAS GTS NX. The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the NATM philosophy, emphasizing ground–structure interaction and staged excavation principles.
Participants were guided through the complete workflow in MIDAS GTS NX, including geometry creation, meshing, material modelling, boundary condition application, and staged construction analysis. Special emphasis was placed on sequential excavation, primary support installation, and interpretation of numerical results such as displacements, stresses, and support forces.
The training concluded with a realistic case study and interactive discussion, enabling participants to connect theoretical concepts with practical design and analysis challenges. Overall, the program enhanced participants’ confidence in using MIDAS GTS NX for NATM tunnel design and analysis in real-world projects. This two-day technical webinar focuses on the practical analysis and design of commonly used earth retention systems using MIDAS GTS NX, an advanced finite element–based geotechnical analysis software. Participants will learn how to simulate real field conditions, model soil–structure interaction, and interpret engineering results for safe and economical designs.
