1. Integration of Civil Structural Analysis using CIM
Generally, a separate Civil modeling process is required for structural analysis, but CIM allows for the quick integration of object attribute information defined in the modeling stage with Civil. In other words, there is a great advantage in easily obtaining a model for Civil structural analysis with CIM modeling alone.

2. Request for Improvements in Civil Structural Analysis Integration Function (CIM V140)
However, in the previous CIM V140, there was an issue where although it was possible to change the Solid Type of irregular members to Member, they could not be utilized for Civil structural analysis. In the current CIM V150, to establish an environment where irregular members can be directly analyzed in Civil, the CIM - Analysis Line feature has been newly planned and developed!
3. What is Analysis Line?
If you are a structural engineer who creates 3D models for design purposes and performs structural analysis using BIM software, you might be interested in this content. In MIDAS CIM, the Analysis Line feature is provided not only for the utilization of 3D models but also for the integration and compatibility with analysis models. One of the significant advantages is that it can be used as an analysis model for MIDAS CIVIL.
Let's first understand what the Analysis Line feature is. Introduced in MIDAS CIM V150 in January 2022, The Analysis Line serves as a line that generates elements during Civil analysis integration, similar to the analysis line created for concrete and steel components. The process involves: 1. Selecting the reference member → 2. Defining the analysis line → 3. Defining the section acquisition point → 4. Entering the analysis mode and creating analysis cases.
4. How do we use it?
For civil bridges, you can use the feature to generate 1D elements required for analysis, such as P.S.C Box, P.S.C Beam, and Piers. In MIDAS CIM V190, the Analysis Line has been improved to automatically track the position of components with varying cross-sections.
By adding an Analysis Line to the 3D model, you can use it as an analysis model in MIDAS CIVIL.

It would be a pity if only models created in MIDAS CIM went through this process. Even solid models created in 3D CAD or other BIM software can be imported into MIDAS CIM and transformed into analysis models.
