[Righter's Story] Pawel Pośpiech, Sandip Deb, Jacek Nawracała : Back to a hand check

Pawel Pośpiech and Jacek Nawracała in Poland and Sandip Deb in India all welcome new tools, and all three keep a reference point outside the software to check results against.

    In their own words.

    Pawel Pośpiech

    Bridge designer · TRAKT sp. z o.o. sp. k. · Poland

"I believe that even the most complex calculations should be traceable back to a simple example that can be worked out by hand and used to verify the final result."

Finding simple answers to unexpected problems

A designer's work often involves solving complex and unexpected problems that arise during construction. In my experience, I have repeatedly been involved in resolving critical situations caused by unforeseen ground conditions, construction issues, or deficiencies in the original design. In such cases, the challenge was to find effective alternative solutions that could be implemented safely and efficiently without compromising the project.

    Sandip Deb

Principal Structural Engineer · Swasti Engineers & Associates · India

"I believe a true engineer must evolve with technology, but always be grounded in sound engineering principles."

Combining fundamentals with new analysis tools

In structural design, I have often found that conventional approaches are not always the most efficient for complex structures. I have tried combining fundamental engineering principles with advanced analysis tools and alternative modelling approaches to better understand structural behaviour. This has helped me develop more practical, optimized solutions while maintaining safety and code compliance.

My commitment is to stay updated with the latest trends and developments in engineering while never losing sight of the fundamentals. In that sense, MIDAS keeps evolving alongside the day-to-day requirements of practicing engineers, making advanced analysis more practical and accessible.

    Jacek Nawracała

Geotechnical engineer · Treehouse Jacek Nawracała · Poland

"Continuous development is what makes the world spin in the right direction, so it is our engineering duty to upgrade tools, systems, paradigms."

Knowing the method well enough to fix it

Advanced projects may be challenging to simulate or calculate. My expertise on the finite element method is extremely helpful in troubleshooting. A holistic approach is what enables me to combine efficiency in daily routine and a highly goal-oriented mindset.

From time to time I am pleased to share my experience with other MIDAS software users. As someone wise once said, "it is better to give than receive", so each presentation makes me feel inspired and well motivated for further work.

Pawel Pośpiech, Sandip Deb and Jacek Nawracała welcome new tools and still keep a reference point they fully understand. More Righters share how they keep that balance in the stories that follow.
