On the SADARA MFC project, the blast-resistant design had to meet an overseas code. Then, on an ExxonMobil modular project, the connections had to pass the Eurocode. In both cases, Donghyuk Jang, CEO of AEON Structural Engineering, was working to standards that weren't the familiar Korean ones. Here is how Donghyuk Jang still managed to win the client over each time.

In Donghyuk Jang's own words.

"I always think about what the client really wants.

I worked as Sub LE on the SADARA MFC Project from 2012 to 2016, and then on the S-OIL RUC Project from 2016 to 2018.

Working to an overseas code

The SADARA MFC Project called for blast-resistant design. So we sat down with the client's PMT, worked out the approach based on the overseas code, and in the end the project wrapped up well. Working side by side with overseas engineers also taught me a lot on the technical side, and honestly, I still draw on that today.

On the ExxonMobil Modular Project, the connection design had to be checked against the Eurocode. To handle that, I put together our own in-house checking sheet. When the client went through it and came back with no issues, it was a really rewarding moment.

Q. What has helped you most in using MIDAS?

Whenever I run into a problem, the Q&A has been a big help.
What really makes the difference is how quickly they reply.

Working under standards that were new to the team, Donghyuk Jang still won the client's approval, using the overseas code and a checking sheet built in-house. And whenever things got stuck along the way, the MIDAS Q&A was there to help. For engineers who put the client first and need answers under unfamiliar standards, MIDAS will keep replying just as fast.
